The Canyon Country screensaver features more than 45 photographs from the beautiful desert areas of Utah and Arizona. Its highlights include images from area national parks such as Zion, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon, and Escalante. Other scenic areas include Antelope Canyon (a slot canyon popular with photographers) and the breathtaking waterfalls of Supai. A few photos from Mesa Verde, Colorado also are included.
This screensaver lets you view the crown jewels of the American Southwest on your PC, although some image and performance problems do present themselves. Canyon Country - Scenes from the Southwest features a variety of shots from national parks such as Zion, Bryce, and Arches. You'll see famous landmarks such as the iconic Delicate Arch, as well as general pictures of landscapes and rock formations. Image quality is a mixed bag; some shots were highly detailed, while others appeared pixilated. Shrinking the pics to their actual sizes resolves most of the artifacts but results in a large amount of blank space on your monitor. The Settings panel provides boxes for disabling the music, but even when we left them all unchecked, no sound came out of our speakers. The rest of the feature set fares better, allowing you to determine the image interval, set transition effects, and change the background color. The 12-image trial may get a bit repetitive for some folks, but at least Canyon Country - Scenes from the Southwest doesn't put adware on your machine like many screensavers do. Fans of desert landscapes should at least give this program a try.
